If there’s one movie much anticipated for release in 2026, it’s Dune: Part 3. Parts 1 and 2 were released in 2021 and 2024, respectively. Part 3 has yet to release the trailer, and it’s all but confirmed. Here’s what we know so far.
Dune: Part 3 teaser almost confirmed
On X, Timothée Chalamet Nation teased the update regarding Dune 3 and the trailer. The account hinted at the teaser being attached to IMAX screenings of Project Hail Mary. Dune 3 will mark the closure of the film trilogy directed by Denis Villeneuve.
The films are based on the Dune trilogy books written by American author Frank Herbert. The story focuses on Paul Atreides, who navigates his life through survival, betrayal, and uprising.
Played by Timothée Chalamet, Paul is a nobleman born to the Atreides family. He works in tandem with Chani, Lady Jessica, and other allies to challenge the forces. The story is set on a fictional planet of Arrakis, which is all but a desert.
It is plagued by conflict mainly because of a spice that is known to extend lives. Feudal families incite chaos over this rare spice, and thus begins a saga of sustenance and struggle.
Zendaya and Timothée Chalamet reprised their roles in previous films. It is likely that they will return for the final closure of the trilogy. Jason Momoa’s son, Nakoa-Wolf Momoa, and Ida Brooke will join Dune: Part 3. They will play the role of Paul Atreides’ children, as confirmed by Deadline in 2025.
Deadline also confirmed the addition of Robert Pattinson in the upcoming Dune movie. He will play the role of Scytale. Besides that, Jason Momoa, Florence Pugh, Anya Taylor-Joy, and Josh Brolin are returning to play their iconic roles in the movie.
The final film is estimated to have a budget of over $190 million, making it a high-budget film. Both creators and viewers are anticipating the upcoming film to be a box office success.
Dune: Part Three is slated for release on December 18, 2026.
