Charlie’s Angels remains an iconic pop culture phenomenon. The fights, the outfits, the music, and, most importantly, the characters are legendary. This is especially true of Lucy Liu, who hinted at her plans for the movie franchise.
Lucy Liu teases a possible future with Charlie’s Angels
Lucy Liu, in a conversation with Entertainment Tonight, revealed her plans to work on a possible Charlie’s Angels movie. When asked whether she would return to the franchise, she said, “Well, it doesn’t take a lot because we just had lunch together not long ago. And it was just one of the most special times we could all get together in New York and do it. Let’s see. I mean, there’s always an ellipsis.”
Liu recently appeared on The Drew Barrymore Show, where she donned a matching suit with her former co-star, Drew Barrymore. They spoke about Liu’s film Rosemeade. Barrymore praised the actress’s performance, and the two also discussed Cameron Diaz’s upcoming film.
The trio recently dined, and it is likely possible they might work on the Charlie’s Angels project, but so far, it remains speculation.
Charlie’s Angels, undoubtedly, remains an influence on TV adaptations and other movies. Take Charmed, for example, but honestly, nothing beats the 2001 animated series Totally Spies.
For her role as Alex Munday, Liu trained alongside Diaz and Barrymore under the guidance of master Yuen Cheung-Yan. He trained them extensively and taught them Kung Fu techniques, which are reflected throughout the movie.
Her role as O-Ren Ishii in Kill Bill: Vol. 1 underlined the use of weaponry in action scenes. For action connoisseurs, Charlie’s Angels is a go-to flick that packs a punch. It’s a perfect blend of fast-paced stunts, drama, and comedy.
As of now, the Charlie’s Angels movie has been announced, and Barrymore’s Flower Films is heavily involved in the process, as confirmed by Variety. Whether Liu will officially join the movie is still uncertain, but fans can hope for the best!
