This year’s Academy Awards, scheduled for March 15, 2026, has many musical acts lined up, much to the glee of home viewers. In that regard, KPop Demon Hunters, the animated fantasy action musical known for its hit soundtrack and K-pop performances, will receive a special performance tribute at the ceremony. The film has received two nominations for Hollywood’s biggest night: Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song for its hit track “Golden.”
Several musical acts to celebrate Hollywood’s biggest night
There is good news for K-pop fans, as a performance from the animated musical’s track list is on the cards. A stage act of the nominated pop song “Golden” will be performed by Rei Ami, Audrey Nuna, and Ejae—the singers behind the animated film’s leading girl band HUNTR/X.
According to the Oscars performance lineup announcement, the musical rendition will feature a “fusion of traditional Korean instrumentalists and dance celebrating the folklore and cultural inspiration behind the animated film.”
However, KPop Demon Hunters is not the only highlight act of the night, as music from Sinners will also have a part to play in livening up the atmosphere. Jazz and blues music play an important role in the film’s atmosphere and storytelling, so the musical segment will feature performances from a star-studded lineup of musicians, including Buddy Guy and Bobby Rush, rapper Shaboozey, ballet dancer Misty Copeland, and actresses Li Jun Li and Jayme Lawson.
The producers have confirmed that the movie’s original track, “I Lied To You,” will be showcased on the big night, with stars Miles Caton and Raphael Saadiq leading the performance. Furthermore, musicians Brittany Howard, Eric Gales, Alice Smith, and Christone “Kingfish” Ingram will also feature in the segment.
“This year, our music performances are inspired by two of the most powerful cultural phenomena in film: Sinners, the most nominated film in Oscars history, and KPop Demon Hunters, a global pop culture sensation,” a statement from producers Raj Kapoor and Katy Mullan read.
The Oscars will be hosted by Conan O’Brien this year, following his well-received performance at the previous iteration. With Conan’s jokes and gags providing the giggles and several musical acts strewn throughout the show, hopefully, the audience at home will have a memorable night.
