The relationship between Matt Murdock and Karen Page is set to evolve in Daredevil: Born Again. Based on recent remarks from the cast, their bond could add emotional gravitas to the story. The characters played by Charlie Cox and Deborah Ann Woll have shared a nuanced dynamic since the original Daredevil, and the upcoming season of the revival series may see them leaning on each other more as threats intensify in Hell’s Kitchen.
Matt and Karen’s dynamic may have romantic undertones
In an interview with The Direct, while promoting Tales From Woodcreek, Deborah Ann Woll spoke about the upcoming season of Daredevil: Born Again, hinting at a deeper connection between Matt Murdock and Karen Page. She pointed out that the two characters are “loners,” whose shared sense of isolation could strengthen their bond as the story progresses.
“Matt and Karen are both loners,” Woll said. “They are pretty much the only other person that the other one has left.”
The Season 1 ending leaves both characters facing the growing threat posed by Mayor Fisk’s campaign against vigilantism.
“There’s a dependence and a reliance and a support of one another,” she added. The trailer for the new season opens with Matt and Karen sharing an intimate moment while they are dancing together. Perhaps renewed romance is in the air as the duo faces powerful enemies. However, this is not the first time that the pair’s romantic angle will be explored, as viewers saw glimpses of it in Born Again Season 1 and the Marvel Netflix Daredevil show.
In the second season of Daredevil: Born Again, the stakes are high as the characters push back against Fisk’s growing influence over New York, acting as a perfect crucible for Matt’s personal relationships to become both a strength and a vulnerability. As Matt grapples with the dangers of his vigilante life, Karen’s presence may evoke strong emotions, and possibly a romantic rekindling is in the cards.
If Woll’s comments are any indication, the dynamic between Matt and Karen could be a defining aspect of the next chapter in the Daredevil saga. The second installment of the series will be released on Disney+ on March 24, 2026.
