The end is finally in sight for the hit series ‘The Boys’ as the streaming platform has announced that the upcoming season 5 will be the last in the series. After years of chaos, bloodshed, and sharp satire, the last season of the series is all set to bring the long-running battle between Billy Butcher and Homelander to a climactic end.
Release Plan for the Final Season
Season 5 will officially premiere on April 8, 2026, and the platform is sticking with a hybrid release schedule that mixes a multi-episode launch with weekly drops. Fans will get a two-episode premiere on day one, followed by a new episode every Wednesday until the finale arrives.
The first episode, titled “Fifteen Inches of Sheer Dynamite,” will kick off the season alongside Episode 2 on April 8. After that, Episodes 3, 4, and 5 will arrive on April 15, April 22, and April 29, respectively. The story continues with Episode 6 on May 6 and Episode 7 on May 13, before the series finale closes everything out on May 20, 2026.
The showrunner, Eric Kripke, has already revealed that the show has been designed from the start as a five-season series. Season 5 will be the apocalyptic ending of the series, and the fate of the characters remains uncertain.
The series will begin after the events of Gen V Season 2 and the dramatic Season 4 finale. However, the core of the show will be Homelander’s obsession with immortality. His quest for the original strain of Compound V will change the course of the war entirely.
On the other hand, the character of Butcher will be working on a counter-plan using a virus that will target the Supes. This high-stakes battle between the two sides will be the core of the show in the last eight episodes.
The show’s last season will see the return of several major characters, including Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Antony Starr, and Erin Moriarty.
The Supernatural series will be treated to a special surprise. Jensen Ackles will be reprising his role as Soldier Boy. Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins will be making appearances in the show.
The final season of the show is scheduled for April 2026.
