Netflix and Meghan Markle have collaborated many times in the past. The Duchess of Sussex even had the streaming company as an investor, but the latter cut ties with the former actress.

Netflix ends deal with Meghan Markle’s brand

In 2024, Meghan Markle launched her lifestyle and food brand As Ever. Netflix was one of the investors who funded this entrepreneurial venture. It is only recently that they cut ties with her brand, as reported by HELLO! Canada. One of the spokespersons from her company said, “We have experienced meaningful and rapid growth, and As Ever is now ready to stand on its own. We have an exciting year ahead and can’t wait to share more.”

Ever is a lifestyle brand that releases homemade goodies, including jams, teas, specialty wines, and scented candles. Some sources even suggested that this move came after her failed breakout, especially her Netflix series. Earlier, Netflix scrapped Markle’s show, With Love, Meghan. This was primarily due to low ratings and content that viewers and fans deemed inauthentic.

The show featured Markle inviting guests to co-star in the episodes. She would cook and garden, all the while sharing lifestyle tips with the guests and vice versa.

It all started promisingly in 2025, but by the end of the second season, the show failed to garner TRPs or a positive reception. The negative reviews and ratings made it much worse, and Netflix had to cancel the project entirely.

Regarding Markle’s move to step away from the deal, a Netflix spokesperson said, “Meghan’s passion for elevating everyday moments in beautiful yet simple ways inspired the creation of the As Ever brand, and we are glad to have played a role in bringing that vision to life.”

The entertainment company paved the way for the 2022 documentary Live to Lead. It was presented by both Meghan Markle and her husband, Harry. This was a part of the multi-year deal that the couple signed back in 2020. It also funded their docuseries, Harry and Meghan, which was subsequently released in 2022.
