“Even the idea of talking about it, I struggle with that. I think there was a period when he passed away where I really struggled with acknowledging how strange it is to have people kind of like own part of your grief in a way. I have such strong feelings around my friend passing away and then suddenly being aware that there’s maybe a desire from other people for you to convey that in some way, or it means you’re not feeling what you’re feeling or something, you know.
Styles also shed light on what it means to lose a friend or someone important to you. For the longest time, the members were pressured to make statements about Liam’s death. He also revealed that the best way to honor someone who passed away is to “live your life to the fullest.“
Back then, the band issued a statement saying they would take their time to process the grief. The members issued individual statements and paid tribute to the late singer on their social media.
