It looks as though Travis Scott is potentially going to take a dramatic step into prestige cinema. Travis Scott was recently seen in a brand new television commercial for an upcoming big-budget film, The Odyssey, by renowned film director Christopher Nolan, during Fox’s broadcast of the NFL AFC Championship game on January 25, 2026. Although it is just a brief cameo, there is already speculation about Travis Scott’s role in what is potentially going to be Nolan’s largest film to date.
As can be seen within the teaser trailer, Scott is seen perched atop a table, giving an address of sorts to a number of soldiers. Among these soldiers are Tom Holland, playing the role of Telemachus, and Jon Bernthal, playing the role of Menelaus. As can also be seen within the teaser trailer, Scott does have lines within this particular part of the film, issuing an ominous warning of sorts with regard to “a trick to break the walls of Troy.” The role of Scott is either a cameo role or a supporting role; however, what is clear is that it is no longer a cameo role.
The teaser draws mixed reactions from fans and critics
It, however, has to be noted that this will not be the first time that Scott and Nolan are working on a project. Scott has previously worked alongside Nolan on one movie, specifically on the movie Tenet, which was released in 2020, wherein the soundtrack featured Scott’s piece titled “The Plan.” However, the current direction that their collaboration has taken seems quite different.
However, the response to the emergence of Scott has been swift, especially because the clips of the teaser were shared widely on the internet, with some awaiting the artist to venture deeper into acting, but others were skeptical about the selection of a rapper in the midst of this historical epic, which draws largely on the classics. It must, however, be noted that Nolan is not the kind of director to make conventional choices, especially when it comes to the cast. It is called the mythic action film, which, it is said, will have a budget of more than $250 million and will be based on the ancient epic of Homer, but in the style of the modern blockbuster action film.
It stars Matt Damon as the main character, Odysseus, and boasts a highly skilled ensemble of actors, including some surprising guest roles. It is said that the upcoming film by Nolan will be one of the biggest of 2026, which will be released on the 17th of July of that year. Until now, Universal Pictures and Travis Scott have said nothing regarding the scale of the involvement of the latter. Until some more information becomes available, the involvement of the latter can be said to be one of the most intriguing question marks of the upcoming movie “The Odyssey” itself, which speaks of the skill of Nolan in generating public discourse even before the availability of the upcoming movie.
