Of course, no one is entirely sure where the path of Chris Pratt’s Marvel adventure is taking him, but one thing is certain: fans know exactly what they’re hoping to happen, and that’s finally seeing a run-in between Star-Lord and Deadpool, a pairing that, let’s face it, is a match made in Marvel madness itself.

Pratt entered the scene with a bang in James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy, winning over viewers everywhere by playing the sarcastic space outlaw Peter Quill, a.k.a. Star-Lord. From Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 to Infinity War, Endgame, and even a holiday special, Star-Lord has been a favorite among viewers. The prospect of his quick-witted, pop culture-obsessed charm clashing with Deadpool’s unadulterated zaniness is a match that dreams are made of.

Marvel’s Fox acquisition makes Star-Lord & Deadpool crossover possible

“Now, it seems Marvel Studios has access to IP that had been owned by previous studios before, including Fox. I really, really loved Deadpool. I think Ryan [Reynolds] GOAT-ed himself with that performance. He really nailed it. I would love to just be there for the process, even if I’m just a fly on the wall. So I’m going to say Deadpool.”

Whilst fans await confirmation of when, or if, he is due to return, the actor opened up about his dreams in an interview with ScreenRant’s Ash Crossan, in which he also talked about his upcoming sci-fi thriller, Mercy. Speaking about the character in the multiverse he would most like to meet before Avengers: Secret Wars brings the Multiverse Saga to a close, Pratt did not hold back.

Another Pratt reference to the deal with Fox is Ryan Reynolds’ character, Deadpool, which is also owned by the studios following the deal with Fox. Pratt also complimented Ryan Reynolds’ character as being iconic. Pratt also stated he would love to be a part of this creative process, even as an observer, as the character he wanted to cross over the most with his character is the character of Deadpool.

The last appearance of Star-Lord was in Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3, which was James Gunn’s swansong in the MCU before he co-founded DC Studios. In this movie, a new Guardians alliance was formed with a new leader, who was Rocket Raccoon, accompanied by Groot, Kraglin, Cosmo, Adam Warlock, Phyla, and Blurp. Star-Lord was sent back to Earth in order to be reunited with his grandfather.

Nonetheless, while this sense of closure was in place, it was negated by the scene at the end of the credits that suggested that, in actual fact, “The Legendary Star-Lord will return.” Indeed, it has been suggested by both Pratt and Gunn that they are willing to return in their respective roles, with rumors suggesting that Star-Lord may be appearing in the upcoming two-part Avengers event in Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars.

However, it is still unknown if they will team up in this film. Neither character has been confirmed to join Avengers: Doomsday, although there have been rumors about Ryan Reynolds reprising his role as the Merc With a Mouth, which have been confirmed to a certain degree. With rumors about the involvement of the X-Men characters from Fox Studios, anything is still possible. Pratt’s wish is still simple: to see two of the most quirky characters from the Marvel Universe on the big screen together before the multiverse closes its doors.
