Madison Beer has never been afraid of showing off ambition, but in this latest revelation, there seems to be a clear intent on how she wants herself and her craft perceived—not just as an entertainer but as an actual motion artist as well. In an honest spread for Paper Magazine’s January 2026 issue, Madison expressed how she truly aspires in the world of arts.
“I mean, I would love to be in movies,” Beer said in an interview with Paper magazine on January 17, 2026. “If you want me to shoot for the stars, being in a Christopher Nolan movie would be my dream. That would be cool.”
The remark comes at just the right time. Beer is currently celebrating the launch of Locket, her third album, which has been picked up on as having darker soundscapes and an emotionally frugal approach. Rather than coming across as the idle wish of a fan, her mention of Nolan is more about aligning herself with an artist who is known for his attention to detail.
A strategic pivot toward cinema
Beer’s interest in Nolan is hardly random. The director is embarking on another high-profile project with The Odyssey, an IMAX-shot film that is set to be released in 2026, and is one of the few filmmakers whose work continues to define cinematic prestige. Beer, who has been incorporating more storytelling through visuals in her recent music videos and live shows, expressed an interest in this level of craftsmanship.
Industry insiders point out that Nolan has been known to cast musicians if they offer discipline and screen presence over mere star power in the past—for example, in Dunkirk and The Prestige with Harry Styles and David Bowie, respectively. Beer’s transformation into a more subtle and visually oriented artist has sparked the same questions about her acting potential.
In her Paper interview, Beer spoke of her career path not as an acting performance pipeline but as an artistic process that she herself directs. Beer explained that she is now no longer just a voice but rather the main decision-maker for what you see and hear. It is this self-proclaimed perfectionist that Beer thinks could also apply to acting.
At the same time, she tackled the stereotypes that exist between pop musicians and their female counterparts. For Beer, acting is not a reinvention but rather the extension of her authorial power into a different form.
For now, a Nolan teaming is a dream collaboration. Beer is currently lining up her biggest worldwide tour to date, which will culminate at Madison Square Garden in July 2026. Interestingly, this is slated to occur only a few days before her film, The Odyssey, hits theaters—a nod to her current realm and her desired one. Whether or not Nolan follows through with a call, the significance of Beer’s announcement is less about begging for a spot than it is about a mandate for where she is going next in a market where the distinction between pop fame and prestige film is increasingly blurred.
