The sci-fi novel “Rendezvous With Rama” by renowned sci-fi author Arthur C. Clarke will finally see the light of day, thanks to none other than award-winning director Denis Villeneuve, who has recently confirmed that he is indeed working on this very adaptation, a rumor that has been doing the rounds for a long time.

The screenplay is written by none other than award-winning screenwriter Eric Roth, winner of several Oscars, and is eagerly anticipated by sci-fi fans, waiting with bated breath to know what new projects this talented director will undertake next.

Roth has just outlined their “visionary film,” “a story with space and time,” and Villeneuve has clearly had his heart set on Clarke’s “visionary story” the whole time—and in fact, he has been attached to the Rama books longer than any project he has in development.

There’s a possibility of adapting an Arthur C. Clarke novel, ‘RENDEZVOUS WITH RAMA.’ Like ‘2001: A Space Odyssey’ it’s about astronauts coming into contact with another civilization. It’s an exploration where we engage with technology that could realistically exist in the future, unlike ‘DUNE,’ which leans more toward fantasy. For the first time, I’d be able to work on hard science fiction. I’d love to do that at least once in my life.

As he has already been described in the previous works by Villeneuve himself as “Arrival,” Rama centers around a team of space explorers investigating a UFO on its course for the Sun. It should not come as a surprise that Clarke, who brought audiences “2001: A Space Odyssey,” has anything less than an experience that is thought-provoking, stunning, and mind-blowing.

At the moment, Villeneuve wrapped up his next film, “Dune: Messiah,” in November of the current year. Concerning his future prospects, various alternatives have come up, such as the Cleopatra film or his take on the story of author Annie Jacobson’s work entitled “Nuclear War”; one thing is certain, though: his book is being made into the film “Rendezvous With Rama.”
