Dolph Lundgren has officially confirmed his involvement in Amazon MGM Studios’ new ‘Masters of the Universe’ reboot after months of speculation surrounding a possible appearance in the film. The actor revealed the information during the movie’s world premiere event on May 18, 2026, at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood.
Lundgren originally played Prince Adam and He-Man in the 1987 live-action ‘Masters of the Universe’ film. Nearly 40 years later, the franchise returns with Nicholas Galitzine taking over the role in director Travis Knight’s reboot. Although the interview clip was quickly deleted after the premiere, Lundgren’s comments immediately spread across entertainment sites and fan communities online.
Dolph Lundgren Mentions a Cameo Appearance in the Reboot Movie
The comments from Lundgren also corroborated the plot leaks regarding the upcoming movie’s plan to feature the actor. According to reports, Lundgren appears neither as an Eternian ruler nor as any mystical creature in the upcoming movie. Instead, it appears that the actor will make a cameo as a gym patron who offers crucial advice to Prince Adam in the film.
In the scene, the young hero faces the pressure of becoming He-Man as he trains in the gym. In the reported cameo, Lundgren would play a senior gym patron who gives Prince Adam the necessary motivation and encouragement to embrace his destiny. As per reports, the scene ends with Lundgren saying the famous catchphrase of the franchise, “Good Journey.”
“I’m in it. I have a small role. At some point in the movie, when he needs some crucial advice, I show up, and I give it to him when he needs it the most. It was surreal working on it because… it was like talking to a younger version of myself.”
This cameo confirms that the movie features a “passing of the torch” moment between the two versions of He-Man played by Lundgren and Nicholas Galitzine. The reboot reportedly chooses not to turn Lundgren into either a villainous character or a mystical creature but uses him as a link between the generations of the series.
The upcoming film stars Nicholas Galitzine alongside Camila Mendes, Alison Brie, Idris Elba, and Jared Leto. Travis Knight directs the project for Amazon MGM Studios, which plans to release the fantasy reboot in theaters on June 5, 2026.
