The magical world of Hogwarts, explored in the Harry Potter films, will be dissected in great detail once again. Yes, HBO Max is planning to launch an official Harry Potter podcast tied to the original film series. The podcast is set to premiere on May 19, 2026, with multiple episodes.
OG Harry Potter series revisited again with an in-depth breakdown podcast series
HBO Max seems to want Harry Potter fans to rewatch all eight original films, from Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone to Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2. The show is titled Harry Potter: The Official Film Podcast and will entail a detailed breakdown of the films, featuring deep dives into key scenes and themes. It will also likely include interviews with cast members, creators, or insiders reflecting on the legacy of the franchise.
The show will be hosted by Rhianna Dhillon. The podcast will kick off with two debut episodes focusing on the first film, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, with subsequent episodes dropping weekly. Each film will have two episodes dedicated to it, with a runtime of approximately 60 minutes per episode. Dhillon will serve as the principal host and will be joined by a changing lineup of co-hosts from across the entertainment industry for each episode.
HBO has described the show as “a thoughtful rewatch experience that balances high-level film recaps with in-depth discussion of the moments that matter most by revisiting key sequences and themes and diving deeper into standout scenes, performances and creative choices.”
The studio has revealed that the podcast is being rolled out to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, while also building anticipation for HBO’s upcoming Harry Potter reboot, which is scheduled for release in December 2026. It seems the platform is encouraging fans to take a nostalgic journey through the wizarding world before reintroducing it with a new cast.
Viewers can watch the video version exclusively on HBO Max, while the audio edition will be available on platforms such as Apple Podcasts and Spotify.
