Kenneth Branagh has thoughts on how he wants ‘Thor 5’ to be

Kenneth Branagh shares his vision for Thor 5.

There have been several rumors regarding Thor 5, where it is suggested that the movie is in the works. It hasn’t been made official, although people are speculating on its plot. Kenneth Branagh is no stranger to this, and this is what he envisioned the film to be.

Kenneth Branagh shares his vision on Thor 5

In a conversation with Business Insider, actor and director Kenneth Branagh spoke about how he wants Thor 5 to pan out. He said:

“Part of me would love to finish my relationship with that character. I would love to see Chris Hemsworth and the others have their own individual final story that takes Thor into a glorious twilight.”

Branagh directed the original Thor, which was released in 2011, while Alan Taylor directed the sequel. Following this, Taika Waititi directed the third and fourth installments in the franchise, but here’s the thing.

Most fans are of the opinion that Branagh should direct the fifth movie. His approach to portraying Thor in the light of his glory and strength is hailed by both readers and viewers.

This is because the Avengers turned the Norse God into a fat caricature. It was a letdown, but the movies also thoroughly nerfed him, considering he’s one of the strongest characters in the Marvel Universe.

Thor: Dark World is also one of the most disliked movies in the series. The movie dials down the character’s aura, nerfs him greatly, but also Thor is reduced to a lovesick fool stereotype, as most fans pointed out.

However, Thor in Thor: Ragnarok is a rather reinvented version of the character. He goes through the zero-to-hero route and rediscovers his strength, which is what stood out as one of his USP. The film was appreciated and praised for how it approached Thor’s character.

In 2023, however, Taika Waititi stepped down from directing Thor 5. This was mainly due to the filming process of the Marvel movie that took painfully long to make, and also to focus on other creative ventures.

As for Kenneth Branagh, it is unclear if he’ll return to Marvel to direct Thor 5, but there are chances he might, since he hinted at a possible second Thor movie being directed by him.
