Once Upon a Time in Hollywood was a box office hit in 2019. The movie, directed by Quentin Tarantino, had quite an interesting lineup when it comes to the casting and even more interesting secrets. LeBron James will vouch for it, and here’s what the NBA star had to say about it!
LeBron James spills beans on Once Upon a Time in Hollywood
In a conversation with ESPN, James spoke about how he knew about the movie way before it was even conceptualized and started filming. He spilled the beans on knowing about the film, where he said,
“I got dinner with Leo … and he told us about ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’ before he started filming it. That was crazy. I don’t remember how our connection started … I have no idea. But I just showed up, and Leo was there. And then Al Pacino showed up.”
OUATIH is set in the 1960s, where Rick Dalton, played by DiCaprio, and his friend Cliff Booth, played by Brad Pitt, witness Hollywood as a changing industry. The story is also set against the backdrop of the Manson Family incident.
While Dalton is a struggling actor, Booth is a stuntman, and both try to reinvent themselves amid the big industry changes and the events happening around them.
For Pitt’s role, Tarantino had an interesting inspiration behind it, as he opened up about it to Entertainment Weekly.
“I had a couple of actors tell me about this guy, and I found him a very fascinating character. Then, I’d meet old stunt guys, and I’d bring him up, and they all knew that guy. There was just something scary about the guy, and he was kind of indestructible. He could do stunts that nobody could.”
For the movie, most critics and fans praised Pitt and DiCaprio’s performances. The movie also had Sydney Sweeney, Margot Robbie, and Al Pacino in central roles.
As for DiCaprio and LeBron James, they share a close friendship. The actor was spotted cheering for the Lakers multiple times, and the NBA star even revealed that they dined together a lot.
