Get your tissues ready, Spider-Fans, because Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be a complete cryfest. This is because Destin Daniel Cretton’s script revealed a major heartbreaking opening scene featuring MJ, and here’s everything we know about it so far!
Spider-Man: Brand New Day script features a tearjerker scene
Destin Daniel Cretton recently revealed a two-page script for the upcoming movie. It showed the opening sequence of a heartbreaking scene where Peter reads the note meant for MJ, which said:
“Hi, my name is Peter Parker, and you don’t remember me, but I have something to tell you that’s going to sound crazy. But it’s the truth, and I know you’re going to believe me, because you’re very good at telling when I’m lying. We used to know each other. We were together.”
Peter penned this letter and almost gave it to MJ, but held back. He is seen reading the same note 6 months after the events of No Way Home in utter solitude. He only has E.V. as a companion of some sort. EV is an AI just like J.A.R.V.I.S., who helps Peter out in innovating and elevating his tech. With Tony Stark’s death in Endgame, Parker must build his own suit.
A fascinating detail in the script happens to be that Cretton included the wrinkly nature of the character’s (Peter’s) suit. It is imperfect but also somewhat renders a sense of nostalgia about his meeting with other Spider-Men, i.e., i.e Toby Maguire and Andrew Garfield.
All he has left now are memories of Ned, Aunt May, and MJ. His life is blanketed in solitude, yet he finds his purpose in it. This is true for him, working extensively on the weapons and artillery he needs as a superhero. While EV helps him out, there are also mentions of a fabricator that is so advanced that it can seamlessly patch up and repair his suit.
After pondering the memories, Peter jumps right into the action as he is seen leaping from the edge of the building. The police are actively chasing him, and he must protect the city and evade the personnel at all costs!
Other than that, the movie has several cameo roles, including Sheila Rivera, played by Zabryna Guevara, Eman Esfandi will play MJ’s Boyfriend, Tramell Tillman will play William Metzger, and most importantly, Mark Ruffalo will reprise his role as Hulk.
Marvin Jones III and Jon Bernthal will play the roles of Tombstone and The Punisher, respectively, and as for Sadie Sink, Jamaal Burcher, and Liza Colón-Zayas, their roles haven’t been disclosed yet.
