Barry Keoghan on Sabrina Carpenter’s cheating feud
Barry Keoghan recently appeared on the Friends Keep Secrets podcast hosted by Benny Blanco, Dave Burd, and Kristin Batalucco. They spoke about his acting roles, his sobriety, his health, and most importantly, the online drama, including the cheating rumors, saying,
“And, you know, I just disappeared. I cheated. Yeah, and I don’t want to ever bring anyone else into it, but like, you know, unfortunately, you know, having a relationship in the public eye, it’s you know, we all know this, you know, from our own stories, but it gets put out there, and it’s like you, you know, it’s amplified.“
Keoghan also revealed that he had ADHD and how the whole ordeal affected him mentally, how the entire narrative made him step away from social media, and how he avoided social places, hangouts, and most events.
“I have been avoiding stuff. I came off Instagram and social profiles. I’ve stopped going to events. I’ve stopped just socializing. It’s because there was a narrative out there that was never really sort of even spoken on—a narrative that’s not true—and I never confirmed or said anything about it.”
Continuing at Friends Keep Secrets, Keoghan added, “And I just disappeared. I’m not asking for people to become my fan and like me because that’s not normal. I’m asking for people to stop assuming and also stop jumping on this narrative and attacking me and dragging me down in any way you can. I’m not saying this for pity. Why is it cool to hop on and beat someone up?”
Sabrina Carpenter and Barry Keoghan dated for almost a year and broke up in late 2024. The pair first met during the Paris Fashion Week, which happened in September 2023.
Keoghan then starred in her music video Please Please Please. It was also after the breakup that the singer-songwriter released the album Man’s Best Friend, which most fans speculated to be linked to her heartbreak.
In the podcast, Keoghan also revealed that he subsequently shifted to London following the massive social media turbulence that affected his mental health.
The actor is currently filming for the biopic of the Beatles’ members, where he will play the role of Ringo Starr.
