It is no surprise that Paul Anthony Kelly has become the internet’s heartthrob. His casting as JFK Jr. in FX’s Love Story is spot on, but little do fans know that he almost gave up on his passion. Paul Anthony Kelly opens up on almost quitting acting
Paul Anthony Kelly was interviewed by Variety at Disney’s Toast to TV event, which happened in Los Angeles. When asked if he was excited about the Emmys, he delightfully agreed and also said:
“I’ve waited a long time to get into this, and I’m here in a big way, and I’m ready to just keep pushing forward. I was pretty much saying goodbye to it, and then just, this came down the shoot, and here we are.”
Right after he was cast as JFK Jr. and the first look was revealed, netizens couldn’t help but notice how the actor looked like the spitting image of the late politician.
Kelly brought out the suave and charming persona of JFK Jr. in Ryan Murphy’s TV series. It is indeed his big break, although the actor appeared in a minor role in the 2010 TV series Body Language, where he played the role of Aaron.
Even Kelly couldn’t fathom the magnitude of popularity Murphy’s series received. “When Love Story came, I didn’t—I don’t think anybody thought it would grow the legs and take on the speed that it did, so it’s just an incredible fortuitous circumstance.“
Before his breakthrough role as JFK Jr. in Love Story, Kelly worked as a model for famous fashion brands and labels. These include Vivienne Westwood, Bonobos, Banana Republic Factory, Kohl’s, and so on.
At the Disney event, he was also asked what roles he envisions doing, to which he said that he would go for compelling stories that have creative characters. He is aiming to take big swings, but that’s not it. He also revealed he wants to work in the film noir genre as his next.
Kelly recently starred as Spencer Duffy in The Venery of Samantha Bird.
