From cinematography to battle choreography, John Wick is that one movie that action enthusiasts shouldn’t miss out on. It was almost 3 years ago that the fourth installment was last released, but there’s exciting news for most fans. Lionsgate has spilled the beans on the franchise’s animated movie, and here’s what we know so far!
Lionsgate boss spills the beans on John Wick animated movie
Lionsgate’s boss, Adam Fogelson, recently spoke to Business Insider, where he shared the details of an animatedJohn Wick movie. While they don’t have a set idea, both Chad Stahelski and Keanu Reeves have a tentative idea about it.
“Chad and Keanu have an idea that they think can be really exciting. There are a lot of steps, so I wouldn’t want to put a timeline on it. But in terms of finding a core idea, they seem to have landed on something that they are excited about, and now we’ll see.”
Chad Stahelski is both a filmmaker and a stuntman who rose to fame with his contributions to the John Wick franchise. His expertise and finesse also led him to work with famed anime directors and studios later on.
The movie itself became a pinnacle when it comes to the direction of amped up action scenes. The neat fight scenes and the elaborate stunts, as well as the storytelling, all mesh well together.
Keanu Reeves’ presence as a suave yet menacing hitman is what stands out as an allure for the film. It would be amazing to see how an animated movie would pan out in this case.
The animated movie was announced at the recent CinemaCon, and what we know so far is that Stahelski and Reeves will be involved in this project.
While a fifth movie is under production, the anime movie will be a prequel and will be set in the timeline before the events of the first film. It would expand on his journey in his final course as a hit man.
The animated movie will be produced under the banner of 87Eleven Entertainment, a company co-founded by Chad Stahelski and David Leitch. While the anime movie is officially announced, the release date and production status haven’t been disclosed as of yet.
