The second installment in the Vought Cinematic Universe, Gen V, will not be renewed for a third season, as per media reports. The show aired in late 2023, and the decision comes about six months after the Season 2 finale of the series. However, it does not mark the end of the road for the characters in the college-set spin-off ofThe Boys, as the show’s finale acts as a narrative bridge into the original series.

Characters from Gen V will appear in The Boys Season 5, says Eric Kripke

Amazon Prime Video cancelled Gen V after Season 2, and this has been confirmed by the show’s executive producers, Eric Kripke and Evan Goldberg. They have also confirmed that the characters from the show will be appearing in The Boys’ final season, along with other VCU spinoffs on the horizon.

“While we wish we could keep the party going another season at Godolkin, we’re committed to continuing the Gen V characters’ stories in The Boys Season 5 and other VCU projects on the horizon. You’ll see them again,” a statement from the executive producers read.

Season 2 of the young-adult superhero drama, which is set in Godolkin University School of Crimefighting, ended in October 2025. The spinoff’s finale showed the lead characters from the university, who are essentially Supes, being recruited into the resistance movement by The Boys character Annie January to fight against Homelander’s increasingly autocratic rule.

The official reason for the show’s cancellation has not been provided, but several media reports hint that the second season did not meet expected viewership figures. Furthermore, other reports have pointed towards several cast members, including Asa Germann, moving on to other projects, which could have played a part in Amazon scrapping the show.

It must also be noted that the show went through major rewrites after one of the stars of the series, Chance Perdomo, died in a motorcycle accident in March 2024.

The Gen V characters will now potentially carry forward their narrative arcs into future spin-offs, apart from appearing in the final season of The Boys. Therefore, fans of the show may not be too disappointed, as several characters are expected to be absorbed into the main storyline of the VCU going forward.
