Deals and acquisitions have become a common way for distribution companies to expand their horizons into different genres. Amazon MGM is no different, especially with the company eyeing a $30 million deal regarding this Javier Bardem movie. Here’s everything we know so far!
Amazon MGM eyes Javier Bardem rom-com flick
As reported by Deadline, Amazon MGM is in talks to buy the rom-com movie Hello & Paris, starring Javier Bardem and Kate Hudson.
The movie is written and directed by Elizabeth Chomko, famously known for What They Had and Martin Scorsese Presents: The Saints. Chomko is also working on a Dirty Dancing sequel, which would have Jennifer Grey returning to the movie.
The details of the sequel’s release date haven’t been disclosed as of now, and it also goes for the movie’s cast. It is in pre-production stages as of now.
Hello & Paris will follow the lives of two distinct yet fascinating individuals who have a rather sour encounter. It gradually develops into an interesting exchange of conversations and emotions.
There’s a headstrong landscape architect, and then there’s a bestselling novelist who is struggling internally. Hello & Paris will likely play around with comedy and romance with Paris in the background.
Also co-writing the movie is Deborah McKinlay, a UK-based author who wrote the novel That Part Was True. Chomko’s film is solely based on this novel that follows both individuals.
It was in February 2026 that the adaptation was announced alongside the main cast, including Kate Hudson and Javier Bardem. This was officially reported by Deadline.
We all know that Kate Hudson has starred in a plethora of rom-coms. Be it How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, Bride Wars, or Something Borrowed, the actress stood out in her roles.
This is also true for Javier Bardem, who is mostly praised for playing notorious villains on-screen. The actor has range, and his role in Jamon Jamon precisely proved that.
Hudson even commented on how the modern-age rom-coms should be approached in her interview with Vulture, saying, “People think, ‘We can do that. Same formula, same feeling, but less money and newer talent. I don’t think they’re the same genre.”
Hello & Paris is estimated to be released in 2027.
