As Just Jared reported, Chris Pine and Robert Schwartzman are returning to The Princess Diaries’ third movie. Meg Cabot, the author behind the famed movie, confirmed both actors’ presence in the upcoming movie.
Earlier, Cabot also hinted at Anne Hathaway’s presence, and while it is all confirmed, the movie hasn’t yet started production. This is mainly because Hathaway herself is involved in multiple projects.
She is currently doing the promotions for her recent film Mother Mary, directed by David Lowery. The actress will also star in Odyssey and various other projects, including Princess Diaries 3.
Not only that, but she also reprised her role in the sequel to The Devil Wears Prada alongside Emily Blunt and Meryl Streep, which is all set to release on 1st May 2026.
As for Chris Pine, the actor’s schedule is packed for real. He is working on 5 different projects that are both in pre- and post-production stages as of now.
Robert Schwartzman, similarly, is working as a producer on The Way I Was Made: The Story of a Man Called E. It is a documentary that follows the life of an indie band called Eels.
Both Schwartzman and Pine played major roles in The Princess Diaries 1 and 2. While the former played Mia Thermopolis’ best friend, the latter played her love interest.
There have been various speculations as to what might be the plot behind The Princess Diaries 3. The movie will likely unfold the events after Mia’s coronation and also her role as a Queen, mother, and a supposed ruler of Genovia.
According to speculations and reports, The Princess Diaries 3 is in pre-production stages, and the directors have eyed the release for late 2026 or 2027. It might even shift up to 2028, but nothing has been confirmed so far!
