While Marvel Studios has reportedly ditched its plan to make a Blade reboot, it’s not giving up on the character. Yep, the antihero will appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe by featuring in the upcoming Midnight Sons. Actor Oscar Isaac shared a promising update on the project that will also bring Ghost Rider into the mix. And guess what? He strongly nodded to the popular fan demand for casting Ryan Gosling in the epic role. Check out the full scoop below!
Isaac wants the La La Land actor to take on Ghost Rider
During a recent interview with Josh Horowitz on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Oscar Isaac weighed in on Midnight Sons. The actor, who played Moon Knight in the titular Disney+ series, revealed that Marvel is still on board with making the movie. However, he refrained from sharing further details about its development. Meanwhile, it serves as a perfect opportunity for Marvel to reintroduce Ghost Rider after the character’s decade-long absence.
When asked if Ryan Gosling should play the part, a preference backed by millions of fans, the Star Wars actor responded quickly. “Make it happen, fellas. I mean, it’s a no-brainer,” he said. It’s not surprising to see Isaac rooting for him. After all, Gosling proved his mettle in the action genre with his critically acclaimed portrayal of Officer K in Blade Runner 2049 (2017).
Meanwhile, after Nicolas Cage’s Ghost Rider movies, the character joined the MCU by appearing in the fourth season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (2016-21017). Actor Gabriel Luna played both Robbie Reyes and Johnny Blaze, who are different versions of the character. With his potential appearance in the Midnight Sons, Ghost Rider is set for a sizzling comeback.
Earlier, the film production company planned to make a spin-off series on Hulu, with Luna reprising the role. However, the project got shelved due to creative differences within the team. Earlier this year, Marvel insider Daniel Richtman claimed that the character would return. “Marvel is doing a Ghost Rider project in the next saga of the MCU,” he wrote on X.
As of now, there is no confirmation on where and how Ghost Rider will make a comeback. But it’s highly unlikely for him to grace our screens before the conclusion of Marvel’s Multiverse Saga in 2027. The arc will be explored in two upcoming theatrical movies: Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. In the meantime, fans can re-watch Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 4 to enjoy Robbie Reyes’ Ghost Rider.
