Billie Eilish is releasing a new 3D concert film, Billie Eilish – Hit Me Hard and Soft: The Tour, which is scheduled to hit theaters on May 8, 2026. The film is being co-directed by James Cameron and will follow Eilish on her recently concluded Hit Me Hard and Soft live tour. In a recent interview, the singer spoke about her initial hesitation to make a concert documentary and how the Titanic director made her think otherwise.

Eilish’s initial reluctance to produce the film was driven by her guardedness

At CinemaCon 2026, while promoting her new documentary, Eilish told Entertainment Tonight that, being a public persona since she was a teenager, the audience already had a lot of access to her life. As she matures, she wants a more “guarded” lifestyle, which potentially played a role in her not wanting to make the documentary in the first place.

“I kind of was like, uh, I don’t want to make a documentary. Because I’ve been so seen for my entire life. Since my teenage years, since I was about 13. And I’ve been so open for so long. I think over the years, I’ve gotten a little bit more guarded, or just trying to not maybe give so much,” the singer stated.

However, the last touring experience was an integral part of her life, and Cameron played a big part in instilling trust in her to release the documentary.

“On the day, it became so clear that it was actually such an important part of my tour, which is being in the green room and getting ready for the show and the actual experience leading up to the show. He really saw that, and I really appreciate Jim for pushing that and being like, ‘No, I believe in this, and it is going to be really amazing, and people are going to love it,'” she further stated.

The film will utilize immersive 3D technology to capture performances and the behind-the-scenes concert experience. It is produced in partnership with Darkroom Records, Interscope Films, and Lightstorm Entertainment.

With Cameron roped in for the project, it wouldn’t be far-fetched for fans to expect innovative visual storytelling through the use of technology. Are you excited to watch Billie Eilish’s upcoming concert documentary? Let us know in the comments section below.
