The Bay Harbor Butcher will be back for a new set of kills in Season 2 of Dexter: Resurrection. The upcoming season is expected to be released in October 2026. Meanwhile, the show is gradually revealing new cast members, with recent developments confirming two more additions to the ensemble.
What roles will the new additions to the cast play?
Bokeem Woodbine and Nona Parker Johnson are the latest additions to the Season 2 cast, as per Variety. Johnson is set to portray Fiona Mixon, a “training officer in the homicide unit and a nepo baby in the police world,” who will also serve as Harrison’s new romantic interest. On the other hand, Woodbine will play Captain Mixon, Fiona’s father, and the head of the homicide unit.
Meanwhile, Brian Cox has been roped in to play Don Framt, a serial killer dubbed the New York Ripper. He is expected to serve as one of the major villains in the upcoming season. The show’s logline describes Cox’s character as “A serial killer who terrorized the city years ago. Though no longer active as a killer, he’s found a new way to live in his infamy by continuing to taunt the survivors of his long-ago murder spree.”
Moreover, Dan Stevens will portray the Five Boroughs Killer, while Uma Thurman will reprise her role as Charley from Season 1.
In the Season 1 finale of Dexter: Resurrection, Dexter murders criminal mastermind Leon Prater inside a vault and uses Batista’s death to cover his tracks. With assistance from his son Harrison, he manages to escape, later using Prater’s yacht to dispose of the body. By the end, Dexter comes to terms with the fact that his compulsive nature to kill will only continue in New York City.
The first season also shows Dexter obtaining the case files of the New York Ripper from Prater’s vault, a thread that is expected to be explored further in Season 2.
Clyde Phillips, who developed the original show, also serves as showrunner and executive producer on the new installment. Additionally, Michael C. Hall not only reprises his role as Dexter but also executive produces the series. The show is being produced by Paramount Television Studios and Counterpart Studios.
