The highly publicized legal battle between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni rages on over alleged workplace misconduct and a retaliatory campaign during and after their collaboration on It Ends With Us. However, the lawsuit has reportedly impacted Lively’s Hollywood career. As per an industry insider, Lively and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, are now considering moving out of the United States.
Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds consider UK move amid Baldoni lawsuit
Based on an industry insider’s remarks to The Daily Mail, the Hollywood couple is considering a move to the United Kingdom. Lively is reportedly looking to “rebrand” in the UK after opportunities in Hollywood appear to be drying up following the lawsuit, which has become a public spectacle. Moreover, Reynolds is a part-owner of the Welsh football club Wrexham, which takes him to the UK to fulfill his commitments to the team.
“With Ryan’s huge success with his Welsh football club, Wrexham, he has a great affinity for the UK,” the insider stated, adding that Lively “believes there are top-of-the-line filmmakers who could give her a second chance.”
As per The Daily Mail, “most people in the industry” are “steer[ing] clear” of the Gossip Girl alum after her It Ends With Us co-star lawsuit grabbed headlines.
“Blake isn’t getting the offers,” another source stated, adding, “There hasn’t been anywhere near the same interest in her since the Baldoni drama exploded. She’s burned bridges.”
While shifting to Wales is reportedly on their minds, they are also considering dividing their time between the US and the UK, with a final decision on hold as they prioritize their children’s preferences.
“What’s making them take a long, hard look at their immediate future is that their kids’ schooling and friends are in the States,” the source told the media outlet.
The married couple has four children: daughters James, Inez, and Betty, and son Olin.
A judge in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York recently dismissed ten of the thirteen claims made in Lively’s lawsuit, including allegations of sexual harassment, defamation, civil conspiracy, and multiple workplace-related misconduct charges. However, Lively’s allegation that Baldoni enlisted publicists to retaliate by circulating negative stories about her online will move forward to trial. The judge ruled that two retaliation claims are to be decided by a jury.
Baldoni and Lively are set for trial next month.
