The A24 psychological drama Mother Mary will hit theaters on April 17, 2026. The film features Anne Hathaway, Michaela Coel, and Alba Baptista. During the film’s premiere, Baptista praised her husband, actor Chris Evans, for being in her corner at the red carpet event.
Chris Evans is the best human, says Alba Baptista
At the red carpet event, Entertainment Tonight caught up with Baptista to discuss the film. When the interviewer asked her if Chris Evans had seen the film and how supportive he had been throughout her acting career, she unflinchingly dished out compliments for the Captain America actor.
“He’s absolutely the best support guide. I mean, he has the best advice. He hasn’t seen the film. He is very excited, and so am I,” she said. The interviewer then doubled down and asked her what the best part was of having him as her support system—she replied that he was the “best human.”
The couple is famously private, rarely sharing details about their life publicly since their wedding in 2023. Furthermore, they welcomed their daughter in October 2025, and both of them are entering a new phase in their lives as parents.
Fans don’t often see them together at big industry events, focusing on making their partnership work in private rather than being a PR-friendly, glamorous “it” couple.
Reportedly, the two met through mutual friends in Europe. They hit it off while Evans was spending time abroad, including in Portugal, Baptista’s home country. Again, they kept their relationship very low-key, and by 2022, reports confirmed that they had been together for over a year and were in a serious relationship.
Unlike most Hollywood couples, their relationship didn’t blossom on a film set but developed over time as they kept on meeting each other through mutual circles.
On the professional front, apart from the current film, she has been roped in to feature in the live-action Amazon MGM Studios film Voltron. On the other hand, Evans will be returning as Captain America in Avengers: Doomsday, which will release in December this year.
