Spider-Man fans have been waiting with bated breath for the upcoming film Beyond the Spider-Verse. While the movie is scheduled for 2027, everyone is hooked on the update. It seems like Phil Lord has somewhat teased the viewers with news regarding the same!
Phil Lord hints at Spider-Verse update in a recent post
On X, Spider-Man News announced that there will be a CinemaCon panel organized by Sony on 13th April. The account posted visuals from Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, but that’s not all.
The person who reposted the update tagged Directors Christopher Miller and Phil Lord, asking for an update. Lord responded to the post with a side-eye emoji, and there has been no comment so far beyond that.
What we can infer from this is that the CinemaCon panel might hold answers to most fans’ questions. Be it updates, news, delays, possible casts, and so on, these might be discussed.
As for Beyond the Spider-Verse, the film will air in almost 3 years. There have been endless production delays and hiatuses, mainly because of the SAG-AFTRA strikes.
When asked by Josh Horowitz in a recent interview as to how they are feeling about the third movie, Lord said, “Every studio loves to announce a release date. I don’t know why. We would never, if it were up to us to decide, we would never.”
However, Miller confirmed that they are on schedule for up to next June, as the animation, production, and wrapping up are going pretty well. They set up the editing process in such a way that it can be done efficiently and with detail, as confirmed by Miller himself.
Alice Brooks is also revealed as the Director of Production behind the film. She previously worked in Wicked, starring Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo, and it is a big feat indeed.
Other than that, both Miller and Lord were asked if they are working on any future Spider-Verse or Gwen projects solely, but they stated nothing. The directors, however, praised Nicholas Cage’s upcoming Spider-Noir television series trailer.
Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse is slated for release on June 18, 2027.
