Odessa A’zion‘s moment in Hollywood keeps getting bigger, and now it looks like Marvel may be paying very close attention.
Odessa A’zion is reportedly being eyed in Marvel’s upcoming X-Men film
According to insider Jeff Sneider at The Hot Mic podcast, Marvel Studios has the 25-year-old actress on its radar for the role of Rogue in the MCU’s long-anticipated X-Men reboot.
Sneider noted the report comes from the same source behind numerous accurate Marvel casting scoops in the past, though nothing has been confirmed by the studio, and at this stage, it remains a rumor.
He also reported that A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms lead Peter Claffey is in the mix for Beast, suggesting the casting process is beginning to take some kind of shape, even though director Jake Schreier recently confirmed writers Lee Sung Jin and Joanna Calo are still working on a draft of the script.
As Sneider pointed out, the same source previously flagged interest in Sadie Sink for Jean Grey, a role that now appears set to materialize in Spider-Man: Brand New Day ahead of the full X-Men ensemble. If the pattern holds, A’zion’s name being in the conversation this early is meaningful.
It is not a hard case to make. A’zion is currently one of the most talked-about young actresses in Hollywood following a remarkable run of form.
Her performance in Josh Safdie’s Marty Supreme opposite Timothée Chalamet earned her both an Actor Award nomination and a BAFTA nod, and she has been a standout in HBO’s I Love LA alongside Rachel Sennott.
At 25, she also sits comfortably in the age range Marvel tends to target when casting characters intended for long-term franchise commitments.
Rogue is one of the most beloved X-Men in the comics, an absorber of powers who has carried her own storylines for decades and whose complicated dynamic with characters like Gambit has fueled some of the franchise’s most emotionally charged arcs.
How the MCU intends to handle her remains unknown, given how early the X-Men reboot sits in development, but if A’zion does land the role, it would be a very compelling piece of casting.
No release date has been set for the X-Men film yet.
