Every movie has a behind-the-scenes story and lore that is either fascinating or deeply disturbing. This is especially true with how Olivia Munn once dealt with a stubborn co-star. The X-Men actress recently spoke about her co-star’s outburst, which turned out to be an unpleasant experience.
Olivia Munn addresses her co-star’s outburst on set
Olivia Munn spoke about her show Your Friends and Neighbors on Drew Barrymore. She spoke about the show’s second season, but also slipped in details of her co-actor’s outburst in the past.
“We’re about to shoot and, somehow, I guess he didn’t read the script, and in that moment, he realized, ‘Wait, wait, wait. Hold on. She can’t save me. No, no. She can’t save me.”
To give context, this was during a production of an action movie. She did not name the movie or the director, but the reaction of her co-star. The actor was fuming when he got to know that Munn’s character would save him from the enemy shooting at him in the scene.
If that wasn’t all, the co-star made a huge scene on the sets during the production. Things got heated up when the actor got combative, as Munn called it, with the Director.
This isn’t a first in Hollywood, let’s be real. There have been incessant cases of creative differences, friction, and communication issues. The combative part is what makes it more concerning, so much so that even Barrymore was wide-eyed while hearing the incident.
In the end, Munn intervened and took control of the situation. She suggested to the Director that they switch the part in the action scene, and it cooled down the situation.
“There was no insecurity about being obnoxious, and everyone hearing this and being like, ‘She can’t save me! We’re not doing this!”
The actress has previously opened up in interviews about her mental health struggles, centering on anxiety and social pressure. This also includes the fact that she received threats on the internet, which were downright horrifying.
She reprised her role as Samantha Levitt in Apple TV’s Your Friends and Neighbours Season 2 alongside John Hamm. It is available for streaming on Apple TV.
