Be it Big Fat Liar or Deuces Wild, Frankie Muniz exhibited his artistic brilliance in most of his movies. He is a multifaceted actor who has appeared in numerous roles, but mainly as Malcolm in the Middle. He has returned for the series’ reboot, and he’s also navigating parenthood. This is what the star had to say.
Frankie Muniz lauds Lois’ parenthood
Frankie Muniz was recently interviewed by Entertainment Tonight about his return to Malcolm in the Middle reboot. He spoke about the series and also his journey as a father, especially taking life lessons from his on-screen mother, Lois.
Amazing. It’s hard. I might need to take some, uh, Lois lessons, you know, be a little harsher because he’s not listening. I don’t know. The gentle parenting approach doesn’t work. That’s all I’m saying.
Muniz rose to fame after this sitcom, where he played the role of the eponymous character Malcolm. His character is gifted with a brilliant IQ, except that he grew up in a dysfunctional family with a delinquent brother.
If that’s not enough, Malcolm’s parents put him through extreme discipline and control to better him. This is in conjunction with the character’s inner struggle to befriend and make connections at his school. He is also self-absorbed and, on several occasions, egotistical.
The reboot, however, explores Malcolm’s journey as an adult. He’s married and now has kids who live with him and are far away from his chaotic family.
Muniz also shared some nitty-gritties about his interactions with his son. The reporter asked the actor if he would show his son the series, to which he replied, “You know, I don’t think he fully understands. He only really knows me as a race car driver, if that makes sense.”
The response is, honestly, quite valid considering Muniz’s NASCAR career. He got into racing in 2004, where he participated in the Toyota/Pro Celebrity race, and then became a professional racer in 2006.
It’s been almost two decades since the star got into the racing scene. He competed in NASCAR in 2024 and has won several accolades for his performance in sports racing.
Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair is available for streaming on Hulu.
