NFL star Josh Allen and Sinners actor Hailee Steinfeld tied the knot last May. The couple welcomed their first baby together earlier this month. In a recent interview, Allen revealed the kind of relationship he shares with his wife and how she has unlocked a version of him that would have otherwise remained hidden.
Steinfeld is the “rockstar” that he needs, says Allen
In an interview with ESPN Originals, Allen waxed lyrical about his wife and revealed one thing he has come to realize about himself during their relationship. In a clip uploaded on Instagram, the 29-year-old athlete stated that his wife is a “rockstar” and everything he needs in his life.
“My wife is an unbelievable, undeniable rockstar in her work and in her life as a person,” Allen said, adding, “she’s everything that I need in my life.”
The NFL star further revealed that his wife taught him that there is more to life than just football. Elaborating on his point, he stated that his entire life has been dedicated to becoming a successful NFL player, and his single-mindedness blocked out things that might have otherwise diverted him from his path.
“Maybe that I am more than a football player,” he said, adding, “My whole dream as a kid was to be in this position, and I never thought of anything outside that. Hopefully, I get to still play this game for a very long time.”
Safe to say, living with Steinfeld has helped him see past stats, wins, and legacy, and become a more well-rounded individual rather than just an athlete. Such a perspective is valuable for elite athletes who often tie their entire self-worth to performance.
The comments come at a time when Allen is at his peak professionally, yet he is still talking about life outside the sport. It is refreshing to see that Steinfeld is helping Allen see past the NFL bubble and appreciate life away from the game.
Now that the Buffalo Bills star is a girl dad, it is inevitable that there will be a shift in perspective in how he approaches life. Hopefully, Steinfeld will be able to bring the calmness he needs to navigate the next chapter of his life.
