The United States government has been embroiled in a major conflict in the Middle East for just over a month. However, certain sections of the media have been lambasting the sitting president for his handling of the situation. The latest to add to the fray is comedian Jimmy Kimmel, who has given his satirical take on the administration’s negotiating tactics.

United States President has memory of a goldfish, says Jimmy Kimmel

During the opening monologue of his show, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the comedian mocked the president’s pattern of issuing “insane” threats and then backing off from those statements with delays.

“This is how it goes every single time. He says something insane. He says, ‘I’m going to k— everybody tomorrow at 5 p.m.,’ we all freak out, then he’s like, ‘You know what, actually, I’ll k— everyone in two weeks,’” Kimmel joked.

Thereafter, he stated that the sitting president forgets he made a threat in the first place, claiming that he has the memory of a “goldfish”. “Then we relax, then he forgets he ever said it in the first place. He has the memory and skin color of a goldfish.”

The comments were made in the context of recent developments involving a South Asian country brokering peace negotiations in the Middle East.

Further satirizing the commander-in-chief, he stated that the president “always gives two weeks’ notice” like a “conscientious employee,” and then proceeded to show a series of clips where the U.S. head of state promised crucial developments in two weeks’ time.

The segment culminated with Kimmel showing a clip of the U.S. president saying that a “sick country” with “demented leadership” should not be allowed to have nuclear weapons, calling it a “w– crime.” The comedian then quipped, “Then lock yourself up right now because that’s the boat we are floating in right now.”

Kimmel’s criticism centers on the president’s alleged pattern of escalatory remarks followed by delays, which he suggested creates confusion and panic among the public.
