Marvel fans are eagerly waiting for Avengers: Doomsday’s release this year. It is one of the most anticipated movies of 2026, and if there’s one question that piqued most fans’ interest, it was whether Brie Larson would reprise her iconic role or not. Here’s what the actress had to say about that.
Brie Larson addresses rumors of her return in Avengers: Doomsday
When asked by Entertainment Tonight if her character Carol Danvers would be returning to Avengers: Doomsday, she had this to say: “Oh, you know, I can’t talk about that. Nice try. I’m trying. We’re trying. We’re trying. All right. Thank you. Thank you.“
Larson was promoting her recent film, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, where she played the role of Princess Rosalina, Princess Peach’s long-lost sister.
When it comes to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Larson was last seen in the 2023 movie The Marvels. She reprised her role of Carol Danvers, also known as Captain Marvel. She also featured in Marvel Studios: Assembled, where the docuseries gave a peek into never-before-seen highlights and scenes surrounding the magnificent world of Marvel.
Larson is all geared up for her upcoming series, Cry Wolf, which is based on the Danish series Ulven Kommer. She will star alongside Olivia Colman, and the series has officially been greenlit by FX. It will be a limited series with 8 episodes in total, and Sarah Treem will be the showrunner behind this project.
As for her return in Marvel’s Avengers: Doomsday, many netizens speculated that the actress might return. Her response hinted at a maybe, so fans are a bit hopeful about it.
The IMDb, though, states nothing of the sort as such, and we’re yet to receive an official confirmation regarding the same. Chris Hemsworth will reprise his role as Thor, Sebastian Stan will return as Winter Soldier, and Letitia Wright and Vanessa Kirby will play their roles of Black Panther and Sue Storm, respectively.
Other than that, Hannah John-Kamen has joined the star cast for her role of Ava Starr, aka Ghost.
Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled for release on December 18th, 2026.
