Robert Pattinson has finally given Batman fans a real update on The Batman: Part 2, and for once, it actually sounds like things are moving. While promoting his new movie, The Drama, the actor revealed that he is about to jump straight back into Gotham mode.
What Robert Pattinson said about The Batman: Part 2
Speaking during a recent appearance on the French talk show C à vous, Pattinson said he will begin working on Batman again almost immediately after his current press tour ends.
“We’ll probably finish this press tour in… a week? And then I’ll immediately start doing Batman stuff,” he said. He also made it very clear that he is excited about what is coming next, adding, “The new script is so, so good.”
That is a pretty big deal considering how quiet this sequel has been for what feels like forever. Fans have spent months surviving on delays, rumors, and vague updates, so Pattinson casually saying he is about to start Batman prep is probably the closest thing they have had to actual nourishment in a while.
He has also been hyping up the sequel in other recent interviews. Pattinson reportedly said the movie is going to be “really, really, really special” and teased that it is “very, very different,” adding that the story is “taking some big swings.”
That does not tell us much plot-wise, but it does sound like Matt Reeves is not playing it safe with this one. The timing also lines up with what has already been reported about the film.
The Batman: Part 2 is currently set for release on October 1, 2027, and Variety previously reported that Warner Bros.
Discovery said filming was expected to begin in spring 2026. So no, there is still no trailer, no first look, and no villain reveal. But Pattinson saying he is about to start “Batman stuff” is still the clearest sign yet that Gotham is finally waking up again.
