The beloved light-hearted comedy-drama Community will be back with a movie. The show ran for six seasons and was hugely popular. Peacock announced that a Community movie was in development back in 2022, but cast scheduling conflicts have led to delays in the start of the filming process. However, actor Donald Glover has reassured fans that they will get to watch their favorite community college study group again.

Community movie is going to happen soon, says Glover

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Glover urged fans to be patient as the project is currently in the works. Reportedly, the movie is still on track, but the tight schedules across its A-list cast are the only thing that has caused delays in filming.

“We are working on it right now. I know everybody’s been saying that forever. But I swear to you I am not lying about this. I really think it is something that is going to happen soon,” Glover stated.

He also stated that the cast and crew are on a text chain, discussing the fate of the movie.

“We are just on a text chain talking about it.”

Safe to say, Glover is expected to return to reprise his role as Troy Barnes in the movie. As per reports, most of the members of the fan-favorite Greendale study group are set to reunite, which includes Joel McHale, Alison Brie, Danny Pudi, Gillian Jacobs, Ken Jeong, and Jim Rash returning to their roles.

The film already has a completed script and has secured funding. The film is being written and produced by Dan Harmon, the original creator of the TV series. However, the movie doesn’t have a confirmed director as of yet.

The movie is shaping up to be a near-full reunion of the main study group, with Glover’s return as Troy being the biggest highlight. However, the timing and the logistics of getting the cast together for filming are the major hurdles that Peacock has to deal with to finally start the pre-production process.

The niche fans of the show will definitely get what they have been craving for years, but it’s just that they might have to wait a little longer than expected. As for now, the project is still in early development, with no official release date attached to it.
