The year 2026 has a lot in store for binge watchers. New series are coming up, while some are about to close the curtain with a possible final season. This is true for the acclaimed Sci-fi series For All Mankind, and the creators addressed its future lately.

For All Mankind’s showrunners discuss the series’ future

For All Mankind’s showrunners, Ben Nedivi and Matt Wolpert, spoke to Collider about the show’s future. They spoke about the series’ ending and its possible fate.

“To correct the record, it was never seven seasons. We’d always said it’d be ‘like six or seven.’ Honestly, the goal was always, from the beginning, getting us to the present. As we’ve told you many times, we love the idea of starting from this point of divergence and ending the show in the present day to show how different the world could have been.

It isn’t always that a show gets wrapped within the set number of seasons. Sometimes it may exceed the framework altogether, and such is the case with For All Mankind.

The entirety of the premise cannot be tied all together within 5 seasons, and honestly, the showrunners’ decision to take the plot up in the sixth season makes sense. It also aids a proper flow and continuity to the storyline instead of making it all hushed and rushed.

For All Mankind isn’t an Emmy Award-winning series just for the sake of it. It lives up to it, especially through its elements, be they storyline, casting, themes, or characters. It is, after all, one of the finest sci-fi series from Apple TV.

Wolpert thanked both Apple and Sony in the interview for being supportive and helping them in their creative endeavors. “Apple was nothing but supportive, as well as Sony. They’ve just been great partners throughout this whole show, honestly. The fact that such a unique show as this has been supported by them in the way it has is just a testament to them as creative partners.”

Adding to that, both Wolpert and Nedivi confirmed the sixth season will be released in 2027, which will conclude the entire story.

For All Mankind Season 5 is currently available for streaming on Apple TV and Amazon Prime Video.
