The Boys has set the stage for the grand finale with its final season airing this year. Fans are all stoked up for the upcoming season, and it seems like the actors aren’t holding back their excitement as well. Jensen Ackles, for example, shared his 50 cents on the dynamic between Homelander and Soldier Boy.
Jensen Ackles on Homelander and Soldier Boys’ bond
Jensen Ackles, who plays Soldier Boy in The Boys, recently did an interview with Collider. He spoke about the upcoming season, and most specifically, the bond between Homelander and Soldier Boy, which he jokingly called stemming from“daddy issues”.
“When you get a son with Daddy issues and a Father who also had Daddy issues, and you put them together, that generational trauma can sometimes come out in some pretty vicious words and actions.”
Homelander is the by-product of Soldier Boy, as he was created in a lab, and while he is considered the son, the latter rejects it. He is also considered formidable and unparalleled, though only second to Billy Butcher and Soldier Boy combined.
That doesn’t posit him as a weak character by any means. The character also shows a tendency to connect to his father and progenitor; however, Soldier Boy rejects him through and through.
Soldier Boy works in tandem with Butcher to put an end to the crisis enabled by Homelander. It is interesting to see a parallel between both son and father; they’re both strong yet display different moralities in the series.
Hoemlander is a more vicious, ambitious, and powerful megalomaniac, while Soldier Boy clings to his humanity despite his brutality and arrogance. This is also due to his troubled past as a soldier, which led to him having lifelong trauma.
Season 5 will feature the showdown between Billy Butcher, Soldier Boy, and the gang against Homelander. They will work together to foil the latter’s plans against humanity, and it would be nothing short of majestic.
The Boys Season 5 is scheduled for release on April 8, 2026. It will be available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
