Hollywood has lost some of its most potentially talented and esteemed actors this year. Alex Duong is no different, as the star passed away. He starred in major TV shows and productions, so let’s take a look at some of his best works.
Blue Bloods actor Alex Duong passes away
Alex Duong was an actor and a comedian popularly known for his role as Sonny Le in the CBS drama Blue Bloods. He played the role of a gang leader in the comedy series, but that’s not it.
Duong previously starred in 90210, Dexter, Pretty Little Liars, and Everybody Hates Chris in minor roles. Blue Bloods was his big break, and he also stepped into the comedy world.
The actor also worked as a writer for shows like Historical Roasts, The Cost of Living, Game of Chess, and so on. He also worked as an AD on numerous films as well as television projects.
His last film project was Sideways, for which he played the role of Jimi Lam. The film garnered positive reception from both audience and critics, but Duong’s career wasn’t restricted to that.
He was an active member of SAG AFTRA and went on to perform his pieces in various comedy venues. His journey came to a halt when he was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer named alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma.
It was after a one-year battle with the condition that Duong breathed his last. He passed away due to septic shock, as reported by TMZ. It’s even more heartbreaking and jarring after his comment on his condition.
A week ago, Duong wrote that he would come out of this condition. His passing has left many fans and his colleagues shocked and devastated. Australian filmmaker and comic Troy Conrad grieved his passing in an Instagram post, saying:
Missing my friend @dapperduong after hearing of his passing.
What a fantastic human being. Always positive, kind, and so talented.
What a light lost. Rest in peace, Alex.
Jeremiah Watkins and the Comedy Store also paid their condolences to the late actor. It’s indeed a huge loss for both the comedy space and the film industry on the whole.
