Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End ended its second season as of late. It concluded in 10 episodes, and shortly after, Season 3 was officially announced. The confirmation came after the announcement from Crunchyroll. They also confirmed the plot details regarding the upcoming season. It will mostly cover the Golden Land Arc, and that’s not all.
Season 2 ended with a glimpse of Macht, who will return as a major antagonist in the Golden Land Arc. He is one of the strongest demons among the Seven Stages of Destruction and also a former henchman of the Demon King.
The same Demon King who was incapacitated by Frieren and her party. It will be nothing short of exciting, as most anime fans are on the hook about what’s to come. Manga fans, on the other hand, are well aware of what to expect from Season 3.
Up until now, Frieren has battled some formidable enemies, including Qual, Aura, the eleven mages, and so on. Season 3 will set the stage for an action-packed battle between her and Macht. It will also expand on Fern’s growth as a mage.
As of now, the makers haven’t confirmed the number of episodes for the upcoming season. While the first season had 28 episodes, the second had only 10. It deviated from the norm because usually an anime series is supposed to have at least 12-13 episodes in a usual Cour.
If there’s one thing that Season 3 will follow through on, it has to be the snail-paced plot. The series is usually critiqued for its painfully slow pace, but it nonetheless captures the essence of magic and fantasy that Kanehito Yamada brings out in her series.
Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Season 3 is slated for release in October 2027.
