Millie Bobby Brown adds yet another feather to her cap with her upcoming role in the Kerri Strug biopic. She rose to fame with her role in the Duffer Brothers’ Netflix series Stranger Things. The actress is all set to shoot for her role in the biopic, and here’s what we know so far.
Millie Bobby Brown to play Olympic gymnast Kerry Strug
As confirmed by Deadline, Millie Bobby Brown is in talks to play the role of Kerri Strug in the biopic named Perfect. It will start filming in June 2026, and Gia Coppola is at the helm of this project.
The sources have suggested that the actress is in the final stage of talks for her role in the film. Netflix is also reportedly in talks to land the deal for this film.
Millie Bobby Brown will also act as a co-producer along with Thomas Benski, Jeremy Baxter, and Nik Bower. Cate Shortland is listed as one of the Directors for the movie; however, it isn’t yet confirmed if she’s still directing the film.
Perfect is loosely based on Strug’s 1997 biography, Landing on My Feet: A Diary of Dreams. The book explores the gymnast’s journey along with her teammates during the 1996 Olympics. Strug was one of the Magnificent Seven, a gymnastics team that ultimately led America to bag a gold at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.
She won the gold despite her excruciating ankle injury and pushed through obstacles to achieve victory. It was a historic win, and apparently, there were talks of Olivia Wilde directing the film in 2025.
There were reports of Thomasin McKenzie starring as Kerri Strug in Wilde’s biopic. The movie was supposed to be spearheaded by Searchlight Pictures, but Gia Coppola was named the director for the movie in 2025.
So far, the idea and casting look favorable according to most fans. To depict Kerri Strug’s road to victory is anything but a cakewalk, but netizens are of the view that Brown would absolutely nail it.
The film is scheduled for release in 2027.
