Everyone’s gearing up for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which will release this July. Zendaya and Tom Holland will reprise their roles, but it seems like there are new additions to the cast. Anne Hathaway and Sarah Snook are reported to play villains, but is it true? Let’s find out.
Anne Hathaway and Sarah Snook to play villains?
Of late, it was reported that Anne Hathaway and Sarah Snook were offered to play the villain role in the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Fans speculated that the actresses might play the role of either Poison Ivy or Lady Chameleon, but so far, nothing has been confirmed as of yet.
The rumors of both actresses playing villains in the Spider-Man movie spread like wildfire. There have been major speculations about their roles, but it seems that both of them have reportedly turned down these roles, as reported by Jeff Sneider.
It is also interesting how fans’ choices come into play in this case. Hathaway has previously played the role of Catwoman in the 2012 film The Dark Knight Rises opposite Christian Bale.
Hathaway revealed that she almost bagged the role of Felicia Hardy, aka Black Cat, in Sam Raimi’s film when she appeared on the Happy Sad Confused Podcast in 2023. She was asked what would happen if she were to play Catwoman in Sam Raimi’s film to which she responded, saying, “If ‘Spider-Man 4’ had gotten made, I don’t know if I would’ve been considered for ‘The Dark Knight Rises’. Perhaps Christopher Nolan would’ve said, ‘No, she’s occupied in another universe.’”
As of now, Sarah Snook is working on her series All Your Fault, while Hathaway is all revved up for the sequel to the iconic movie The Devil Wears Prada, where she will reprise her role as Andy Sachs alongside Meryl Streep and Emily Blunt. She will also star in the third installment of the Princess Diaries franchise, which is scheduled for release in 2026, as some reports suggest.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is scheduled for release on 31st July 2026.
