Dua Lipa’s transition into acting is moving fast. After brief but buzzy appearances in Barbie and Argylle, the pop star is all set for the upcoming A24 film, Peaked. It is set to be a high school reunion comedy directed by Molly Gordon, and she confirmed her casting on March 26, 2026. Production starts in April, but Dua’s character details are unknown.
The Cast List for This Film Is Getting Out of Hand
The storyline follows two girls who made everyone’s life miserable in high school, trying to relive their glory days at the 10-year reunion. That’s the whole premise. Molly Gordon co-wrote it with SNL writer Allie Levitan, her second feature after Theatre Camp.
The cast already had Emma Mackey, Laura Dern, Simone Ashley, Connor Storrie, Amy Sedaris, Gabby Windey, Levon Hawke, Mitra Jouhari, Owen Thiele, Jaya Harper, Emil Wakim, and Alex Consani. Dua Lipa just got added to all of that.
For Lipa, this is her third film role. Barbie made a cameo as Mermaid Barbie in 2023. Argylle was a bigger role in 2024 as Henry Cavill’s love interest, and that one did not do well at the box office. An A24 comedy with this cast is a much better setup than Argylle was.
“I loved being on set. I love the idea of embodying a different character and having an assignment,” she told TIME earlier this year. Even with cameras set to roll on Peaked next month, the music side of things hasn’t been shelved—her fourth studio album is still very much on the horizon.
A24 has been doing this for years. Musicians in their films is basically a pattern at this point. Charli XCX, The Weeknd, Andre 3000, Tyler the Creator, Megan Thee Stallion, Kid Cudi, Janelle Monáe, and Phoebe Bridgers. Lipa fits right into that list.
Peaked doesn’t have a release date yet. As the production is slated for next month, a 2027 release is the realistic window. With this cast, this director, and A24 behind it, it’s already one of the more anticipated comedies in development.
Lipa also said something to Harper’s Bazaar recently that applies here. “Once I put something out into the world, it no longer belongs to me. You make the thing that you love and you put it out in the world and you have to put your hands up. The people choose.”
