Chainsaw Man officially concluded its run with Chapter 232, which was released this March. The news of the manga ending spread like wildfire among several anime and manga fans. The author, Tatsuki Fujimoto, also sent his regards to fans after the ending, and here’s what he had to say.
Tatsuki Fujimoto’s heartfelt message for Chainsaw Man fans
Chainsaw Man author Tatsuki Fujimoto recently sent a final message to Chainsaw Man fans. Anime Updates and several other anime news channels shared the official message on their platforms.
The message was as follows: “Thank you so much for reading Chainsaw Man! Also, thank you to all the assistant staff who helped out! I hear the movie is about to end its run, too! I’m truly grateful that you stuck with both for so long!”
It was in 2018 that the author started his journey with this slasher manga, and the anime was released in 2022. With time, Chainsaw Man became one of the most popular and celebrated new-gen anime. It is widely regarded for its tropes, animation, and complex characters.
The story follows the journey of Denji, who haggles each day to make ends meet. He makes a pact with a chainsaw devil, Pochita, and subsequently joins a government agency of devil hunters. The only exception is that the agency members work in tandem with devils.
Chainsaw Man is about survival and friendships, and the story also touches upon the meaning of life. MAPPA brought the entire worldbuilding to life with their animation, and Kensuke Ushio took it to another level with the background score.
In the 2023 Jump Festa, Fujimoto joked about his manga’s chaotic ending, saying, “If they don’t hate me a little, did I even do my job? Next time, it’ll be worse; maybe the devil wins and eats everyone, including you.”
Fujimoto’s manga ran for almost 8 years despite pressure from publications, editors, and fans altogether. It is one of the top-selling manga in the shonen genre and has an acclaimed global fanbase.
