Now, a throwback moment from his 2023 promotional run for the psychological thriller film Saltburn, where he was asked a question about the timeless Harry Potter universe, is doing the rounds.
Jacob Elordi wants to belong in Cedric Diggory’s Hogwarts house
In an interview with Access Hollywood during the red carpet event of the movie Saltburn, Elordi was asked what his favorite Hogwarts house was. His answer suggested that he wasn’t a die-hard Harry Potter fan. It hinted at a more casual familiarity than someone who is well-versed in the Harry Potter lore would.
“Which one is Robert Pattinson in? He’s in one of them. Cedric Diggory. I think he is in the yellow one. I don’t know what it is. Maybe that one, just because he is cool,” Elordi said.
Harry Potter’s loyal fanbase could be slightly disappointed that he couldn’t name the house outright, but his choice of Hufflepuff could make Robert Pattinson very happy if he came across the interview. Pattinson featured as Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, representing the Hufflepuff house in the Triwizard Tournament, posing as an honorable competitor to Harry Potter.
Diggory’s death due to Peter Pettigrew’s killing curse marked an emotional moment in the film and signified a major tonal shift from magical adventure to darker stakes. Pattinson was widely praised and recognized for the portrayal of the role, and Potter fans felt a sense of intense loss for such an honest and innocent character. Diggory’s ethos aligned with that of the house he belonged to, which valued effort and doing the right thing over egotistical ambitions.
Nevertheless, there is good news for Harry Potter fans as the legendary franchise is being rebooted into an HBO series and is expected to premiere in early 2027. The series will focus on retelling the tale of the magical world of Hogwarts with a completely new cast. Since it will be a long-form TV adaptation, the Harry Potter lore and backstories of characters are expected to be explored in much greater depth.
